Extremely popular in research laboratories worldwide, Digitimer DS3 Isolated Stimulator provide you with compact, reliable and easy to use sources of constant current (0-32mA) stimulation.The Digitimer DS3 isolated stimulator is designed for stimulation in in vitro or small animal applications. Transitory pulses of electricity are used in several biomedical research applications to stimulate nerve or muscle fibres.

The DS3 Isolated Current Stimulator from Digitimer is used to minimise artefacts presented into electrophysiological data and it is therefore necessary that the Isolated Current Stimulator should be electrically isolated both from ground as well as the trigger device. The DS3 features optical isolation between the battery power source and the trigger circuitry making them ideal for use in very low noise electrophysiological recording environments. It can be triggered by a front panel push button or by an incoming TTL compatible trigger pulse from your data acquisition interface or other hardware. Stimulus amplitude and pulse duration are precisely controlled using front panel dials. In addition, pulse duration can also be determined by the length of the incoming trigger pulse when the duration dial is set to the "Gated" position or by the length of time the single shot push button is held down.

The DS3 was developed from the DS2A in response to many requests for the DS2A to be modified to provide a constant current output. We found that this modification became so popular that it made sense to design a dedicated constant current equivalent of the DS2A. Although similar in appearance, the DS3 contains totally new circuitry, and includes an output clamp circuit which allows the stimulating electrode to be discharged between stimuli, a feature which is invaluable when stimulating with bursts of pulses.

Output discharge (Clamp) circuit prevents capacitance build-up during stimulus trains, which is important to prevent stimulus loss.
It can be triggered by an external device such as any Stimulator that can provide TTL compatible pulse or Data Acquisition Multifunctional Devices (such as National Instruments boards, Axon Digidata, etc.)
The DS3 can be fitted into a 19" rack mounting frame (D121-11) which can hold up to two DS3s.
